@Mrs.KMM:  Yeah, you never know what’ll happen.  The jury won’t be impartial that’s for certain.  I’ve been on a jury that deliberated for 3 days.  I was one of 3 that didn’t agree with the majority, let me tell you, it’s exhausting to sit in a room with a bunch of people interrogating you while you defend your position for days.  Of course this wasn’t as huge a case.  I can totally understand how people just want to get it over with and get out of that room and go home whatever the outcome.   I think racially charged cases are a bit different.  There will be riots if he’s acquitted, it adds pressure to jurors to reach the verdict the public wants, I think.

I just can’t imaging having to bury my child over some totally avoidable B.S. like this. And then for this fool to try to justify it, after the cops told him to leave it alone. Please.  @vorpalette:  Exactly right, I couldn’t be on the jury. I’d be giving him the death scare the entire time.

@mu_t:  black kid, white LOOKING guy (even though he’s hispanic in reality)…black kid dead. that’s all anything needs nowadays to be racially charged lol I guess people will say he’s racist because he went after the kid just because he was black & the kid looked “suspicious” only beause he was black. Idk if that’s true but I guess if you saw a preppy looking white kid in a neighborhood at night, you wouldn’t think anything negative (though I would be cautious of ANY single young man walking around a neighborhood at night but I’m paranoid lol). I KNOW the media was so sad when they found out zimmerman is NOT white…God they tried to grab onto the racist angle before the gun hit the ground then once it came out that he was hispanic, no one knew what to do lol

He’s obviously guilty of murder. He pursued the kid. Whether the kid was guilty of anything or not, I don’t know. I haven’t followed it much even though I work super close to there. I know there were a slew of break ins in the neighborhood & I thought I heard zimmerman basically thought trayvon could have been responsible for it. Did they ever find out if he WAS responsible? Not that that would make any move by zimmerman justified, I’m just curious. Did they find out who was doing the breaking in? That’s what started this whole mess & zimmerman went all vigilante with absolutely no cause like an idiot. He’ll get a guilty verdict.

@soontobemrsm11:  There’s speculation that at the time Zimmerman shot Martin, Martin was in the middle of beating the crap out of him.

@strawbabies:  Imagine how hard you’d fight if a man twice your size was following you.

This case disgusts me because of the 911 calls.  There is a clearly a child in the background begging for help and for his life.  After the gunshots there is dead silence.  Zimmerman killed an innocent person and if this man gets off, we as a country are sending the message that it is ok to take the law into your own hands.  If I was being chased down you bet I’m going to fight like there is no tomorrow.  Unfortunately for Trayvon Martin that wasn’t enough.

@ElleNLOVE:  I’ve never heard the 911 calls & I’m probably quite glad I haven’t. If it’s as obvious as you make it seem, I am sure coming to a guilty verdict won’t take long!

@ElleNLOVE:  +1

I also don’t understand why more than one person referred to Zimmerman as “white looking” here. First of all, I don’t even think he looks white. Second, what does Zimmerman’s race have anything to do with it? Him being Hispanic doesn’t make the incident less likely to be racist than if he were white.

@ElleNLOVE:  You’re so right.  I had forgotten about the 911 calls.  I couldn’t bear to listen to them completely but I did listen far enough to hear the screams for help.  And it wasn’t Zimmerman.

@Scc6a:  I agree.  As a Latina, I think he looks clearly Hispanic but I didn’t want to set off that debate here.

@NJmeetsBX:  The defense is attempting to refuse voice experts to analyze the tapes to determine whose scream it was.  What assholes.

The information the jury needs is this:  kid, walking home to his father’s house, looks suspicious because he’s black.  ADULT, sees kid, calls police hotline, and is told to stay put.  Adult chooses to disobey directive, follows kid on foot.  Either the kid responds to being followed with violence, or the adult attacks him first.  Kid ends up dead.  Adult killed kid.  The end.

@peachacid:  I bet they are!  Those tapes will sink their case.  I had really forgotten about them probably on purpose.  ::shiver::

Either the kid responds to being followed with violence, or the adult attacks him first. This will be critical.  This detail is unknown.  This leaves it up to the jurors to decide.  If we assume for argument’s sake that Zimmerman was attacked, is his self defense argument valid?  OR, did he lose that right when he chose to follow Martin?

@MrsTVLover:  Lol I got a jury duty summons right aorund the time they started the jury selection for this and Fiance joked it was going to be for George Zimmerman. I told him there was no way I could be impartial so he said “well all you have to do is show up wearing a hoodie and carrying a bag of Skittles, they’ll throw you right out.” We’re actually moving so I don’t have to worry about it anyway, but that would be a pretty sure-fire way to get kicked off a jury.

@luluvohn:  I kind of wonder if that would get someone thrown in jail themselves for contempt of court.

@strawbabies:  They don’t know me, maybe I just wear a hoodie every day.
