@busybride215:  +1 & now I hope that others do not act stupid about it. What is done is done, no additional amount of violence will make it better.

This is a sad day for America.  There is now legal standing in this country for someone to stalk you and murder you as long as you fight back. wtf…

As I predicted he got off with a slap on the wrist. Sad really. Hopefully there is no rioting similar to the aftermath of other notorious racially charged cases of injustice

I am so, so sad for Trayvon’s family and friends.

I think it really disturbed me to see Zimmerman smiling after the verdict. A child is dead by YOUR hands. Have some damn respect for his family.

Meanwhile in FL, a woman is in jail for 20 years for firing warning shots at her abusive ex-husband.

@ElleNLOVE:  +1 Disgusting and disgraceful.

Also makes me question the legal system in Florida. Apparently you can murder babies (Casey Anthony) and teenagers carrying package of skittles, and get away with it.

My heart goes out to the Martin family.

I’m not an American, but have been following this case closely. So sad. I hope a civil suit is next.

Florida hates children and has incompetant prosecutors.

I’m sure I will get flamed for this but the fact of the matter is that the prosecution didn’t get the job done. They couldn’t prove 2nd degree murder and they couldn’t prove manslaughter. To prove manslaughter they had to prove intent, and they couldn’t. Do I believe he was wrong to follow the victim? You bet your butt he was wrong, he used very poor judgement. But, it’s not illegal to follow someone. It’s a sad case and there are no winners, but he was innocent until proven guilty and they couldn’t prove intent. Now, if they just had to prove stupidity they certainly did that.

I do have to add this, like a lawyer here in SC just said on the news, just because he was aquitted does not him not guilty. The state did not proveit’s case, therefore there was not enough to convict him.

This verdict upsets me tremendously. I know George Zimmerman will burn in hell. He’s won the battle, not the war

@Irish2014:  Unfortunately you’re right.  The prosecution did not prove their case.  For me one of the more frustrating elements of the trial is that Zimmerman ended up with an expensive legal team because of the way this case was initially handled.

I wonder if the outcome would have been different had Trayvon had been a woman.  I honestly feel like I need protection.  This case is one that everyone has heard of and we just sent the message that you can stalk and murder someone as long as you claim you were “in fear for your life”.  Sad sad day.

@s2bmrscook:

Wow!! I respect our justice system, but wow, just wow!! I guess that is the last word, it is legal to shoot someone when you are the instigator of the accosting. Sure glad I am not in Zimmerman’s shoes, he will always be a prisoner in his own life and mind. I hope that not a moment of peace will ever find it’s way into this man’s heart.
