Oh lord. This happened at my old job; I found stuff missing from my desk/drawers a lot and it was really annoying. I used to only take 45 minutes instead of an hour because, between the three other ladies I worked with, they couldn’t handle answering the phone for that long. I stopped eating lunch at my desk because they’d ignore the phone while it rang, and I picked it up a few times. Thankfully my new job is much better and people ask for things and answer the phone while I’m on lunch/on another line/not at my desk/etc.

I used to work in an office and had a “desk” but I always stayed at my desk to eat. I would still answer phones, do paperwork, etc… didn’t bother me at all. BUT, I would take a lot of breaks (like everyone else in the office) and go outside for a couple of minutes or go get a coffee and snack… so it all worked out!

At one of my past receptionist jobs, I put a lock on my desk drawer! I had to! whenever I came in the following morning there would be no pens left in my desk fromt he night shift staff and evening receptionist taking them all!

Oh dear, I wouldn’t know what to do with myself if I only worked part time, it would drive me crazy.

I get so annoyed if anyone touches anything on my desk!  Someone was using my chair and adjusting it for a while until I literally started loudly complaining about it every day!

This has happened to me on more than one occasion by my boss and it pisses me off. I keep my desk relatively organized, which is a difficult task when the entire accounting department is throwing their work at me to do. I try to keep everything in a folder, or a box, either in an organized pile under my desk or in a drawer. My boss will come out and leave me little notes on my desk, (she have NEVER come to talk to me about this in person and her office is 30 ft. from me) about how I need to clean off my desk and be more organized. I know she goes through my desk when I’m not here, and when I question why things aren’t where I left them, she’ll say “Oh, I was just looking for a piece of paper to write you a note about your desk” I have a printer right next to my computer with computer paper in it, so you are obviously lying. I stuck my paystub in my inbox and I guess part of it was sticking out, so she goes into my inbox, takes my paystub out, puts in another envelope, writes “confidential” on it, and then leaves me this snarky note about leaving my paystub on my desk. I put it in a way that no one would see it unless they were going through my desk, so she obviously had to go digging to find it. Someone so worried about confidentiality should know better.

The ultimate irony? Her office is a complete mess and everyone is constantly making jokes that if you put something in her office, don’t expect to ever be able to find it again. Grr…..
