For shopping in stores that don’t ship to Canada you can always have your purchases sent to a mail forwarding business in Baline like Hagen’s. You register on their website, use their address so you often get free shipping as it is in the USA. They send you an email when your package arrives. You zip over the border and pick it up. I do this all the time. I always declare everything to the customs agent and am almost never asked to pay taxes. Canada Border Services are focussed much more on drug and immigration problems, so if you are honest they often just wave you through. On the rare  time you do have to go in, you just pay tax- no duty.

Many stores, WalMart for example, also offer free shipping to their own stores. You could have your robes sent to the Bellingham store, then zip across the border to pick them up.
