Hi! I’m getting married August 4th! I thought I always wanted a limo as my getaway car but now that my friends say the personal car that you decorate is more traditional, I’m torn between the two 🙁 The pros of the limo are: sleek and stylish, very fancy send off, but the cons are: very big, not a personal time as you have a limo driver with you, and you can’t decorate. Personal car: it’s more personal, but the most traditional car for a wedding. Very private, but small and not that fancy (I have a Mustang that would look nice but not as much as a limo).
How to choose? Were you torn between a couple? How did you choose what you wanted and did you regret not going for the other? Please help, bees!

- Wedding: September 2017 - Pearson Convention Centre
When we got married we rented a Rolls Royce as our getaway car. The company that we used let us decorate with flowers and we did.

snugglepuggle94 : luckily my dad has a classic 1955 t-bird that I was able to use, so it was a personal car and it was decorated, but it would be something someone might rent. If you can’t decide, would you consider getting a luxury rental car, so you can put removable decorations and have no driver, but choose what car you have?

Not sure this helps, but I have never attended a wedding where they rented a vehicle. And unless you are planning to leave your wedding reception early, you may be building up the idea of a “grand sendoff”. Every wedding I’ve attended, the married couple are among the last to leave along with the last stragglers of guests and it isn’t exactly a grand event. We do last hugs and goodbyes and all get in our respective vehicles. The only outlier is the wedding at a resort where the married couple just took the resort shuttle back with everyone else from the marina back to the hotel.
But if it is in your budget and you don’t want to have to worry about watching your alcohol consumption or otherwise having a designated driver, you can certainly hire a vehicle.

snugglepuggle94 : We are wedding date twins! My fiancé and I are riding in a 1949 Cadillac with the window in the back for our getaway car. My family knew someone who owns one, as that’s really the way to go for antique collectible cars. We will be able to decorate it carefully with things that won’t scratch the paint and I we are only getting driven from the reception to our wedding night hotel which is only about 5 minutes away so we won’t mind the lack of privacy!
We are also doing a sparkler send off, so the getaway car is somewhat important and the Cadillac looks great with the classic manor we’re getting married at!

I personally would save the money and use my own car and spend the money on something else for my wedding or even honeymoon. I was in a wedding where we took a limo to the ceremony and there was foot mark on the window and I couldn’t wait to get out of it!

I’d probably not want to spend money on a short car ride.
My brother in law offered to drive us in his vintage jaguar but since they’d have to actually drive that car a few hundred miles to get to the wedding, I declined. I’d much rather have my sister, him and their kids in a safe, modern car…
Current plan is: my best friend has a teenie tiny white VW and we decided it would be amusing to decorate that car and ask her to drive us. She thinks it’s hilarious, it also won’t cost a dime and I get to spend some extra time with my husband and my best friend. All around win.
