you shouldn’t have to put any type of payment down. I just called the hotel I was interested in and they sent me the rates and a contract saying any unbooked rooms will be released after a certain date. it was incredibly easy!

This is how it worked at our venue. I called the person who was in charged of booking the rooms and told them my name and my fiance name and when we are having our wedding. We than told them how many rooms we would like to reserve.

They send us a contract in the mail that states like 19 or whatever rooms you want reserved for our wedding day is reserved under bride and groom’s last name. These rooms are reserved until a month before our wedding which is the cut off date. If the guest don’t reserves a room by the deadline date than the rooms are released to the other guests.

The bride and groom do not give the venue their credit card info. The guest who needs a room are the ones who calls the venue and they are the ones who need to give them their credit card information in order to reserve their room.

Our venue gave our guest a 10percent discount on rooms. So I would suggest asking your venue about discounted rates.

I haven’t done this yet… it’s on my to-do list for Monday. When I talked to my venue coordinator about this, she said it would work just as Bored6 said.

They’ll “hold” the rooms for you until a specific date and whatever isn’t booked will be released then.
