hmmm my wedding isnt until next October 2016 and I had an apt with three different florists, I met with each for an hour and a half to go over details and they all gave me a quote on the spot.. I booked one of them after discussion with my mom and fiancé. The florist I chose is reliable, recommended by friends of mine and answers my calls and questions immediately. This sounds like she might be a flake. I don’t think that is a good sign moving forward. Why would you want to deal with someone you can barely even get in touch with now? Let alone closer to ur wedding date.. I would move on and see if there’s someone else who can be more reliable.

alishac:  Oh man, I feel that’s anot awfully long time to wait. I got a quote during my very first meeting with my florist. However, I only met with one florist so I can’t tell you if that’s normal or not.

Just had my meeting with an event designer/florist and I also got a quote on the spot.  This is my only meeting as well, as I’ve already decided I’m going with her.

Well, I can say that florist quotes take longer than any other quote in the wedding process. They have to price out your exact order. Most other vendors just take your personalizations times the head count and boom – done. The florist has to figure out a lot more variables.

that being said, 3 weeks still seems too long. Has she at least gotten back to you to explain why or give you a deadline?

Flaky vendors are the worst. You said she’s popular. Do you know anyone who used her? Maybe they have some advice. Maybe she’s a phone person.

alishac:  No, that is weird if she wants your business she should send the quote immediatly! Start getting quotes from other places.

By The Way, I was getting very very $$$$ quotes from florists and I really don’t care much about flowers and didn’t want it to be a major part of my budget. So I changed my tactic and started calling the cheaper florists (based on $$ symbols on Yelp) and said “I have $___ Budget , can you make it work?” And that was successful for me.

I got quotes from 2 florists and they both took about a week/week and a half. One was a popular place with several locations all over town and many employees, that does tons and tons of of weddings. The other was a lady who does flowers on the side. I ended up going with the lady because at the popular place that supposedly does a lot of weddings – everyone seemed kind of clueless and weird and not helpful… rude even, to the point of putting me on hold for 5 minutes and forgetting about me. I’d find someone else if I were you, experience tells me that if they take this long to hear from once, they’re ALWAYS going to be hard to get a hold of. Go with your gut.

If ur budget wasn’t flashy enough and ur not a priority for her, then I would move on and call some more people, this seems like a sign of a lot of aggravation to come!
