I got the best phone call I could get about 2 days ago for a job interview. It is a major employer in CT and initially when the lady called, she was calling me about one position but then decided I would be a better fit for an executive position so she decided to interview me for both and let the boss make the decision if he wanted to hire me and for which one. We had a GREAT say 20 minute conversation and the phone call closed with her offering me an interview midweek, next week. She said she would e-mail me the details but gave me the date and time. Well, that was two days ago and I haven’t received the e-mail. I called her yesterday morning at the number she called me from HOWEVER it was her home number, as she was working from home that day she called me. I left a message, apologizing for calling her at home but explaining that I never received the e-mail for the interview confirmation and left my number and e-mail again. I still haven’t received anything…. and now I am starting to get a little worried?
This is a great opportunity paying a lot more than I am making now and with the looming debt ceiling and 2nd possible government shutdown in the next 3 weeks (I work as a government contractor and my contract is up at the end of next month if the shutdown doesn’t happen)… I need this. I don’t want to seem like I am harassing the lady- but I don’t know what to do. This is a HUGE employer and it isn’t necessarily an HR office I can call to confirm my appointment. The place of employment is about 16 buildings on one big campus so I need that e-mail to tell me where to go… Plus, I don’t even remember her NAME. I think I got her last name from her voicemail yesterday when I called, that is literally all I know besides the positions I am interviewing for and the interview day and time.
I am starting to freak like, did she change her mind? Did something happen to her? Should I call her house again? I am sure there is a reasonable explanation but this is a bit unprofessional which would be at MY expense-
What would you do?
