So first of all, I think we found the one, ladies. I showed this ring to my SO today and he remarked that he saw something just like it at a different store that he thought I would really like. I think we’re on the same wavelength and this is gonna be it. 😀
It’s a 1/3 carat ring from Zales and I just think it’s so pretty.
But the problem is that boyfriend does not have a credit card. I’m pretty sure if it’s at the store he could just pay in cash, but what if it’s not there? Is it possible to order a ring through the store without using a credit card and to still pay in cash or a check?

I’m positive that wouldn’t be a problem. They’re happy to take your money in any way shape or form. If you have to order it just make sure to get and keep your receipt!

DH bought his from BlueNile so it was an online purchase but he didn’t use a credit card. He got a discount if he wired the money directly from his account so he did that. I’m sure it would be fine!

I don’t see why paying in cash would be an issue. If they don’t have the ring there I bet he could put down a cash deposit then pay the rest of the amount when the ring arrives at the store (after he makes sure it is exactly what he wants).
Does he not have a debit card either?

@SuperKate: No, he doesn’t have a debit card either. He just prefers cash, I think.
Well I’m glad to hear it might not be an issue. I was kind of worried we’d be stuck.

I don’t think it will be an issue!

If he absolutely needs a credit card number he can load money on a prepaid card and use that number — http://usa.visa.com/personal/cards/prepaid/prepaid-card-manage.html

You can have the store order it. I’ve never heard of any store turning down cash!

@google: Good idea!
Also, if he doesn’t have credit cards, make sure he’s building credit another way.

He could always get a prepaid visa gift card, if they didn’t accept cash.
