One of the big issues I have with having a baby is lack of sleep. I know my Darling Husband would be a huge help (he was the one that got up with his 2 boys). Just wanted to get some real-world answers as to how you are ACTUALLY able to sleep with a newborn.

You sleep when they do so if they take a 20 minute nap you better be laying down and taking that nap to. Either that or you need to make up a schedule so one night your on duty or your Darling Husband is.

You sleep less than you normally would and you are tired, but in my experience it wasn’t even a big deal. Especially for the first few weeks you have to sleep when the baby sleeps. You’re doing everything you can to help your newborn transition into the world and to keep the baby happy and healthy so sleep is just sort of a convenience at that point.

I am a rare breed! I’ve gotten great sleep. I have always had to set my alarm with ds. He is 5 months. Around 3 months he started waking me up at 5am to eat and it’s been like that ever since. To bed at 8:30. Up at 5am, back to bed til 8. Napping is a different story. he sometimes takes long ones, some short. I am yet to take a nap!
