Help! So my venue requires all food to be done by them. Although the wedding coordinator at the property made it clear that if I am packaging something as a “favor” for our guests and they eat it there they (1) won’t say a thing and (2) can’t control when a guest is going to eat it… That being said I am definitely on a budget (but then again… who ISN’T on this sight) and feel like my guests would definitely enjoy a “midnight snack”. We are having our dancing in a 100 year old barn and was thinking about settin up these popcorn favors in their so they would be less inclined to indulge before the dancing actually takes place (we will either eat dinner outside in the orchard or under a tent depending on our June heat). For the main favors I made organic self picked blackberry jam. Although there are a few family members who arent major drinkers, there are QUITE a few + big friends groups who will be drinking quite a bit and figured the dancing + drinking could really use a lil extra munchie available late night. If I went through the venue I’m sure they would charge me an arm and a leg. Thoughts, comments, anything please!

I think this is fine, if your guests want to eat it, they can, if not, they can save it. i’d much rather have popcorn than chocolate, etc.

Sounds like a good idea.I would layer the popcorn in clear containers to make it more fun.

I was thinking about a few different flavors… i found this website that has the following gormet popcorn flavors which might be fun as well:
White Cheddar Cheese
Bacon & Cheese
Sour Cream & Chives

@shaunamarslan: Sorry, the only flavor I’d like out of that bunch would involve cheddar cheese.

@creativeplannertobee: Sarcasm? There are at least 4-5 flavours in that bunch that use cheddar cheese. : D

we did a popcorn bar as one of our late night snacks, and the venue made their own “gourmet” popcorn but the price they wanted was REdiculous, so i asked if i could bring my own, and they said sure….. it saved me $800. I ordered it from kernelencorepopcorn.com …. i set it all up in bushel baskets and decorated them, i had 2 of butter salt, 5 different flavoured ones, and then 8 different flavoured shakers…. it was awesome and a HUGE hit with all the guests.

WOW that looks AMAZING!!! Totally what I would go for, for our rustic, country setting! I just dont think I am going to have the space inside the barn for a long table + bar + dj + 130 guests 🙁 But that looks TOTALLY up my alley!

our dinner was over at 7:30 – then they cleared our head table away and moved a couple tables and we put out the popcorn bar at 9:30
