In Atlanta, dig a little deeper.

On the beach, get what you really want.

It depends a lot on what you mean by destination wedding. Are you paying for travel? A rental car? Local vendors? Is it a small enough town they’ll charge a premium for things like cake and flowers?

Do you have a plan for photography? What about food?

Venue, photography, and food are typically the three most expensive elements of any wedding. Unless you have resources for catering and photography you might be cutting it close.

Another consideration is how many guests are you planning on. If you’re going small – less than 20 people, I think you can pull it off for less than $5k. If you have more guests than that, it starts to get hard.

Whatever the case, I vote for having the wedding you want. If a beach ceremony is your dream, do that. Compromise elsewhere.

Is it 2.5k for just the venue?  If so I think you’ll struggle to keep it at 5k even with a small amount of guests.  I guess it depends on how much you’re willing to cut to stick to the budget.

I do think half of the budget is too much for the venue alone though, personally.
