Are Invisaligns an option for you? That way there’s no worry of getting them off in time and no self conciousness! I’m sure you’ll still look beautiful, don’t worry about it!

Ceramics aren’t too bad! I promise! I had them put on when I was 15 and they were taken off right after I turned 17 (I was in college for 3/4 of the time I had braces). A lot of people don’t notice them and it is so nice to have straight teeth! Definitely worth it.

This was towards the end of my time with the braces.

@crystalrae:  I didn’t wear my retainer as a kid and I wanted to fix what had shifted before my wedding. I was in the exact same situation and went with the ceramic braces. The time was going to be double with Invisalign and so was the cost. I had them taken off for the week of the wedding because they weren’t done in time and they gave me a Trutain (Invisalign style) retainer to wear for the week. I’m surprised your ortho would charge you a fee for this, mine did it for free.

No one really notices the ceramic braces, it took weeks for my coworkers to notice. I actually had a woman who is in the office a few days a week come up to me last week and ask me when I got braces (I got them back in May)! I also just turned 24. 😉 If you drink coffee I’d suggest getting the pearl coloured ligatures instead of the clear if you’re not going with the self litigating brackets, they don’t stain as easily.

I got braces 3 weeks ago and I am 26. I also got ceramic uppers and metal lowers. My lower teeth are pretty crowded but upper teeth are fine. My estimated time is 2 years.. EK!

Like you, mine will be coming off for my wedding in June temporarly and either braces or invisalign put on after wedding.

Do you know if yours are self ligating or do you need ligatures? My ceramics are self ligating so I don’t need those little plastic things around the brackets. I LOVE my ceramics. They aren’t extremely noticable in pictures but they are up close. Meh. I don’t care, I am just so happy to finally have gotten braces!

@crystalrae:  I got my braces when I was about 22 and my SIL also got hers when she was 23-24 I think. A lot of people are doing it when they are adults now. Honestly, getting braces was one of the best decisions I ever made. I had the regular metal ones but they didn’t bother me too much and I wore them for two years. The time goes by suprisingly quick and it’s sooo worth it.

Yep I jut got my Invisalign yesterday! I heard you can see changes in 2-3 months possibly, but that’s different for everyone. I highly recommend Invisalign.

@crystalrae:  They look great!!! You will have amazing teeth by the time your wedding comes along!!

I have had my braces for about 7 weeks and I have seen SO many changes, it’s crazy! My top teeth are completely straight now (they weren’t terrible to begin with, lateral incisor was hiding behind my central incisor). The ortho also pulled down my lateral incisors to be equal lengths with rest of my top teeth. They were tiny little teeth and now they aren’t!

I love my braces!!!!!

I have an appointment to get my Invisalign “installed” in 2 weeks. My teeth aren’t crazy crooked and I never had an issue with them but like you, I figured might as well do it now or never! I won’t be done treatment in time for our September 2013 wedding but they will remove everything a few days before so that I’m not a brace face (or I guess retainer face in this case – haha) for my wedding. They said that by then all of the major adjustments should be done so my teeth will look perfect. 🙂 Oh and I’m 24 so I feel you! haha
