Hi Bees. I just wanted to share some info with you guys on getting discounts even when they dont exist!!
I tried on my dress in a NYC store (like a small kleinfelds) and it went for 3,400… The sales lady said if i bought it THAT day I could get 10% off.. bringing it right around my budget of 3,000. I didnt want to make a decision based on price so I left the store, and went home to think about the dress. I realized I was in love with it and was really sad that I wouldnt be getting a discount.
Enter: My fiance!
He called the salon and told them that I had come in and the offered me 10% off, and that I couldnt buy the dress for more than that, and that we didnt raelize how much alterations were. THey told him they couldnt do anything over the phone and that I would have to do “haggle” in person at my first fitting. He went back and forth and told them that he was paying for the dress, not me (sort of a lie- its both of us lol) and that he would not be coming to my fittings so they would have to do it over the phone. He said he was willing to put a deposit down, etc etc blah blah. He threw out the number 2800 with alterations (hes crazy lol) and they said that was too low but they would talk to their boss about getting the best deal for him. They called him back an hour later and said they would give him 20% off the dress (yes!) so altogether it came out to 2760, plus alterations.
my fiance is raelly good at this kind of stuff but i was shocked that he was able to get 20% off. My dress is a 2011 Modern Trousseau gown so its not like it was evenr ready to be on sale.
Just wanted to let you guys know. When in doubt- BEG, or have ur fiance beg 🙂
