Some places will mail you a free sizer to figure it out.  We were also able to return the ring for my husband because it was a little big.

I think its bizarre they wont let you try on rings.  Maybe you should just act like you’re going to buy something and then say you need to think about it a bit.

Or you can just buy a sizer.

That is super super odd. We went to a couple chain stores and tried on rings in differnt sizes because he wasnt sure. Maybe if they are “fancy” jewlers, go try a Kay or Gordons, the ones we went to (and didn’t buy anything from!) were great about figuring out size.

That is really odd that they won’t size him. We had to get my Darling Husband sized cause nothing was close to fitting, he is a 14.5 to 15. We went to several local places and they were all happy to help. What about the place where he got your engagement ring from? I would go in and say I bought my Fiance ring here could you help me out, thats what we did. Or as PP stated act like you are going to buy a ring and then say you have to think about it. I wouldnt buy online if they won’t exchange. Even though we had my hubby sized when the actual ring came in it was too big and we had to exchange it.

@cardus: Ah… I was just going to say, try going to the store that you got your engagement ring from- that’s what we did (Birks, a fairly nice Canadian jewelry store) and they not only did they size my FI’s finger, they had a whole case of thicker rings specifically made for men.

The difference between ring sizers for women vs. men? For women, they are the thin ring sizers similar to a keychain ring, while for men, they are solid rings that come in a nice case– because men’s rings are wider than women’s, so the thin women’s ring sizers won’t do.

Blue Nile will mail you free plastic sizers.  You can request them from their website.  Just make sure you uncheck anything about getting advertizements from them.

Also, don’t forget that you need to go up half a size for very wide rings.

I wouldn’t use cheap women’s rings as sizers because they tend to be inaccurate.  I thought I was around a 5 until I got properly sized for my e-ring.  4.25

Try going to Tiffany’s or another similarly high-end jewler. They tend to have nicer customer service reps than Jared or Kay and as long as you act like you’re considering purchasing one they should size you.

We went into Kohl’s got my size, and his size. And she even let me play with some rings.
