So, my aunt is getting married on Whidbey Island on a Saturday. We are staying there from Wednesday-Monday. I wanted to sight see on Monday in Seattle since my Darling Husband has never been there (our plane leaves on Monday night at 9:30 PM).
I rented a car for Wed-Mon and then my brother and SIL decided they were going to go later (Fri-Sun) so now they won’t be splitting the car rental fees with us.
It might end up being just me, my Mother-In-Law, and my mom. I know we could take a shuttle from SeaTac to Freeland , but then we won’t be able to spend the day in Seattle, right? Does anyone know how to get from the island to Seattle without first going to SeaTac? Should I just keep the car and have my mom pay half? My Mother-In-Law is retired and doesn’t have much money. Any advice? Monday is really the only day we could go. But then where to keep the bags?? 🙁
Does anyone recommend anything else we could do on Monday? Maybe just tour Whidbey Island? Thoughts?

Here’s a link to information on Camano and Whidbey Island.
You will see the driving instructions at the bottom of the page. You can drive from Whidbey to Seattle taking the Mukilteo Ferry and driving south to Seattle. Downtown Seattle is very compact and transit is free so just park your car and hop on and off the bus if needed.. Then return the car to the airport on your way home.

dont miss Fort casey- and the lighthouse. I think from Mount Vernon there is a rapid transit now… might consider that.
back in my growning up days there- we didnt have a bus system, and only ONE fast food resteraunt. Kow Korner. If your aunt is a local- ask her about that. just for fun.

It’s super easy and relatively painless/ quick taking the ferry to Mukilteo and then driving to downtown Seattle. I have done that drive plenty of times!! I LOVE Whidbey; I hope you have a fun time!
