One of my friends told me about this, and it’s a pretty interesting idea! To paraphrase the article, a study compared people who did 40-60 minutes of moderate intensity cycling five days per week against people who four to six 30-second sprints of cycling with four or five minutes of recovery time between sprints, three days per week. The finding was that both groups got the same health benefits out of the training!
I think this is really an interesting find, and clearly shows that even if you don’t have time for a full circuit workout, if you can find just 20 minutes in your day to do a few sprints you can stay heart healthy and not completely wear yourself out.
(A side note: I think during the sprints you are supposed to REALLY go all out for 30 seconds, and push as hard as you can. If you try this, please be careful not to injure yourself!)
