I hated that too. I had a pearl ring that my mom gave me, I used to wear it on my ring finger when I went out to the bar! Wearing it everyday for work would seem strange though, so this probably isn’t an option for you.

Oh I totally know what you mean. I recently mentioned this to Boyfriend or Best Friend. I am in the public eye fairly often, and in a position where guys tend to try to hit on you.  I told him that if I had a ring all I would have to do is flash it or hopefully they would just see it from the get-go and not try to hit on me!

Ive been engaged almost a year and I still get hit on all the time. To be honest I dont think a lot of guys care. Im sure even after I’m married I’ll still get hit on.

I work with a lot of people looking into the career here and I had a guy ask all abotu what I do for fun, and if I go out, and it got really awkward. I had to tell him the WORST story ever, just so I could use the words “my boyfriend.” Haha, I know what yall mean!

Hated this!!! And I’ll admit I totally lied to someone at work and said I was engaged before I was.

FH had given me an etirnity band for Christmas and I always wore it to work on my ring finger (still do since I leave me e-ring at home) and some creepy guy asked “When did you get married or do you just wear that to throw guys off”. I was totally weirded out by him (he had facebook stalked me before this) and said well actually I am engaed and don’t wear my e-ring here, which is now true. We actually got engaged that weekend so it wasn’t a terrible lie, but I just had to get this guy away from me.

Seriously!! This was the worst when I went out with my girlfriends after work for dinner or drinks.

@OttawaBride2011: I’m engaged now… but that is such a good idea, I totally wish I had thought of that when I was waiting!!!!!

I thought that would be the case, but sadly, it doesn’t really stop after you are engaged. There are some men and women, who purposely hit on married/engaged people.  It’s weird–but getting a ring on your finger won’t stop the creepers out there.  It just stops the nice ones that would leave you alone if you told them you were taken anyway.

It definitely doesn’t stopped when you are engaged.  I had a guy hit on me two months before my wedding.  He came up and started talking to me and I wasn’t going to be rude so I talked to him. After 10 minutes, he asked me something that led into me saying I was engaged.  He is like why didn’t you tell me that 10 minutes ago, you just wasted my time – He said it joking around – but still he probably met it on some level – I was like what am I supposed to do – the second you come up to be, say, sorry can’t talk to you, I am engaged and wave my hand in front of your face…haha

@yaneres:  I know what you mean!  I feel weird now saying “fiance,” but that’s a whole other can of worms.  lol

I was engaged for a while previously.  We were in a LDR, so no ring, but still engaged.  I got hit on a lot (Army), and when I’d say I was engaged, they’d point to my ring finger and say he must not be too serious about me.  After a while, I got my own ring…  Towards the end, my male friends would (if someone else hit on me) pick up my left hand and go “She’s taken!”

I’ve told guys I was engaged, and still get drinks bought for me. LOL! I haven’t gone out while married though so I don’t have anything to report on that front.

I know exactly what you mean!!!!  I was thinking this the other day too, and how I can’t wait to have my ring to avoid this awkwardness!!

I hate it, hopefully you get your ring soon 🙂  I don’t think there’s really any way around this other than what you’re doing, but it is a weird feeling!
