In the past week, I’ve gotten a couple “Congratulations on your engagement”-themed marketing pieces in my mail. Today was purchase a six-piece bedroom set and they’d throw in the mattress free. Yesterday was an invitation catalog the size of a wishbook.

Tons. Suddenly, every company knew that I was wedding planning, though I’ve been engaged for almost a year now, this didn’t start until a couple of months ago. I get invitations for bridal shows (probably from my bridal shop selling my info), catalogs from Oriental Trading, for invitations, etc. I use PaperKarma (app) and unsubscribe myself because I just don’t need a ton of junk mail.

@vorpalette: LoL I started getting catalogs from Oriental Trading too! But I have to admit, some of their decorations/pricing (the paper lanterns!!) are kind of tempting!
I’ve been getting mail pretty much ever since I stupidly signed up for tickets to a bridal expo which I didn’t even go to. That was kind of ridiculous — afterwards I got calls for raffles and stuff I’d won even though I never went and entered my name in anything… my email got added to a ton of mailing lists too. I should’ve used a fake email and fake phone number :1

@elysion: I actually found a great backdrop for the reception at OT, but I don’t want a paper catalog. That’s why they have a website, especially because I’m going to order through the website! No idea where these places got my info (I keep getting this invitation catalog, too?), since I didn’t give anywhere my information except my vendors.

No mail, just EMAIL LIKE CRAZY! I’m starting to regret not having a throwaway email address for the wedding 🙁

Ha ha I registered on the Knot and I get e-mail from some wedding vendor or what have you on a daily basis. I bought my dress from DB and they won’t stop spamming me. I am not even getting married in Northern VA and I get mail from venues, rental companies, tux shops, DJs, etc. LOL make it stop!! Ah yes I get stuff from invitation companies, the Oriental Trading Company….neverending. I can’t wait until my wedding is over so I stop getting so much crap in the mail!
