kellysummers :  we got married on an island outside of Cancun- Isla Mujeres- at a resort. We did the full legal ceremony & it wasn’t too difficult. Our forms were in spanish & had to be completed in spanish but our coordinator & google translate made that fairly easy. We also had to arrive at the desitnation at least 3 days before the ceremony and they require a blood test to check for STD’s. The ceremony itself was very civil & not religious at all & the wording cannot be changed (except the vows if you want). We only had 4 guests so it was pretty much a breeze! I know alot of ppl that got legally married in the US, because they said it was too difficult to do it legally in mexico, but personally I didn’t find it that crazy!

Our marriage license is in spanish, but we got certified copies before we left our resort, and I’ve never had any issues with the spanish & changing my name here in the US (passport, Social Security, dmv, etc.)
