(Closed) Getting married abroad

I’m not sure where you are having it, but I would think the same idea would apply for any out-of-town guest. I think it’s pretty understood that if you live in a different place than the wedding and you are going to attend, you would need to pay to get there yourself. I attended a close friend’s wedding in France and I never questioned that I’d have to pay to get there myself (and for accomodations, etc.).

As far as the in-law thing, other bees can probably comment better than me, but I’d start with a gentle “we really just want to keep the wedding small and intimate” kind of thing. Luckily, having a wedding abroad, you’ll probably have a higher decline rate, since the expense to travel to the wedding will be much higher.
