Marriage doesn’t make problems magically disappear. I suggest couples therapy now before the wedding to see if you can find out what’s going on between you. Sometimes you need a third unbiased person to help you see what’s really going on in the relationship.

And if you already live together, nothing will change too much. You’ll have the husband/wife title, you may feel more comitted, and you may work harder to make it work. There is a thread about this topic on the boards. I believe it was started today.

Things don’t really change just because you are married.  If you are fighting now, you might want to consider going to counseling like Miss Tattoo said before getting married.

I don’t think that things are doomed, but I think it’s worth coming up with new ideas on how to communicate and de-stress.    The act of marriage won’t change anything in those areas.

To answer some of your Q’s about the married world. I’m sure people will take you more seriously as his wife. Although they should anyways considering you have been together for 5 years and lived together over 4 years. I’m sure it will be fun to have some married couple dates! Although you could do that now with any couple, but you get the drift. It seems your families will be more happy with you not living in sin. You two will more than likely feel more commited, I’m sure. If you are arguing over stress over the wedding/family matters that should go away once you are married. But other tiffs will be there, of course. Just find betters ways to solve them by talking things out. 🙂 Good luck on the marriage!!!!!!! 🙂
