hey everyone! just want to share our destination wedding planning developments.
we’re getting married in the philippines in july next year. even before we got engaged, individually, we kinda knew that we wanted to get married there since we’re both filipinos and that’s where we met. also, a lot of our relatives are there. we actually already sent a sort of save the date via email since we’re already dead set on a date (july 24, 2013 – our 10th year anniversary as a couple!!!) many of our friends and family have already expressed their excitement to fly there for a vacation our wedding. since it’s still more than a year away, everyone has time to save up and scout for cheap flights. :p
we’ve done our research online and we’ve listed down our top choices for church and reception venues. but it’s really hard to decide when all you have are photos and stories from online reviews and such. so the fiance and i decided to go see for ourselves! we’ll be flying there in may to go check out our choices and see where we’ll be getting goosebumps. 🙂
we’ll be staying there for 2 weeks. so we thought of looking around for other suppliers (caterers, florists, etc) too. hopefully, that’s enough time. we’re already scouring the net for suppliers so we could narrow down our choices already so we won’t be wasting time. i’ve also asked the assistance of my close cousin who lives there to help me out in looking for suppliers.
i’m really really really excited! hope everything turns out smoothly. 🙂

How exciting for you! I bet you can make decisions in your 2 weeks.
I have a question though, what if you don’t get the date you want? I mean lining up photographers and venues is kind of like getting planets to align in some situations!

@alyssa247: Yay, how exciting! If you need video and photo, there’s a few based in the Philippines that are pretty good.

@sienna76: we’ve thought about that too. right now we’re praying that the planets do align for us. lol. but we’re already doing research online and we’ll probably shoot out emails to our shortlists as early as now.
@Dub D: if you don’t mind, could you send their names and contacts to me? i would really apreciate that!

Ha @imbisibol! How could u sound so familiar – My favorite girl from girltalk! Lol
I must say I followed your boracay thread you’ve started and your inputs has been extremely helpful. I was so close to booking shangrila until grandma speak up about her fear on all kinds of water transportation to boracay long or short distance. I’m now a batangas bride. From beach to the lake lol
Ohhh Thanks for introducing Val villarin, I ended up booking him for my entourage HMU in January 🙂 I have not met him but his portfolio I liked the most than everyone I checked.
Congrats on your wedding! X

@MrsDotC: wow- talk about coincidences! out of all the wedding forums, i only troll female network and weddingbee, and we found each other here! thanks for your graciuos comments. over three months out after our wedding, and i still feel like a bride in girltalk’s ‘boracay wedding’ thread, haha. glad to know you’re still somewhat near the water for your wedding. batangas is beautiful too! we spent a few days in laiya a couple of years back and were not disappointed.

my fi and I both lived there…he for 3 years and me for 2. and that’s where we will be spending our honeymoon!
Not sure where you are planning to have the wedding but I have been in two weddings in the Philippines and both have been lovely one in Brook’s Pointe, Palawan and one at Bohol Bee Farm (probably one of my favorite places, EVER)
honestly you can’t go wrong. if i could fly both our families there…then i would do it in a heartbeat.
