Hey bees i need some advice/ recommendations for a venue in VA. Me and Fiance live in CA but because his grandma is pretty old and unable to fly, and his family is out there, we have decided to get married in VA. My fiance is going to VA to visit his family in a few weeks and i want him to go check out some venues on his trip. I want a small wedding 30 people tops. Like a garden wedding or a small vinyard wedding. Im open to any location really. If anyone has suggestions, if you live in VA, and/or know of any nice venues i would love a little info. Thanks!

I live in VA and might be able to help… What area are you thinking and what is your venue budget? I just venue shopped in January so I have a good grasp on what is available and it what price range 🙂

What part of VA? It’s 4-5 hours to just drive across the state 🙂 Are you looking up in the Northern VA/DC area? Richmond? South down by VA Beach?

I live in VA closer to Fredericksburg, where are you looking to have it? Close to his grandmother?

Virginia’s a pretty big state (not CA size, but big enough) so what area does his family live in? You’ll need to narrow it down a little bit for us. I’m from Charlottesville, which is a beautiful place to have a wedding. There are lots of vineyards and farms in the surrounding county. Check out this website for ideas: http://www.borrowedandblue.com/charlottesville/wedding-venues
Barboursville Vineyards is beautiful but am not sure they do small weddings. Belle Haven is a historic country house that hosts small parties. Poke around that site if it’s in the right area for you since there are a lot of options that fit your desire.

I used to live in VA. If you live near Fredericksburg I would recommend The Olde Silk Mill (http://www.innattheoldesilkmill.com/weddings/). It is a Mill converted to a venue space.
I’ve been to two weddings there and it was really nice during the first one, though they were doing some construction during the second. That was about a year ago, though, so they’ve probably finished.

I am having a small wedding in NoVa, I would be happy to provide some suggestions if you’re planning to have your wedding in this part of the state!

I’m in Coastal Virginia. Where are you? Williamsburg Winery is nice. DH and I have been on several tours there.

I’m in NC, and I’ve also lived in WV and MD — so even though I’ve never lived in VA, I’ve lived in all of its neighboring states so I think I know it pretty well. 🙂
I agree with the above posters that you need to narrow down which part of the state. But none of the PP mentioned western VA, so I will add that Chateau Morrisette, (http://www.thedogs.com/) a vineyand in the Mountains, very near the Blue Ridge Parkway, is absolutely beautiful. It would make for an amazing wedding.

In the Charlottesville area, I’d look at Pollak or Veritas vineyards.
ETA: King Family would also be a good choice.

His family live in Harrisonburg but we are willing to drive like two hours out so like Richmond or DC area is fine too even west VA we go to the horse races out there and grandma seems to be fine for the ride there so 2-3 hrs away is ok and our budget is 1500 for a venue because his step mom will be catering so I don’t want to pay extra for that. Thanks for the replies!

I’ve never been to Nova but that venue name sounds so beautiful lol How far is Nova from Harrisonburg??? If you know, that where my Fiance family lives. I would really like some info on that venue if you don’t mind 🙂
