Princesskitty101:  I grew up in Harrisonburg and my Fiance is from NoVA.  We’re having our wedding in Harrisonburg next month!  Harrisonburg is about 2 hours southwest of Northern Va. Have you considered Edith J. Carrier Arboretum?  It’s a very lovely place in the Spring/Summer/Fall.  Eastern Mennonite University also has some very nice lawn to hold weddings and if you want an indoor wedding they have that too ;).  Bluestone Vineyards is a lovely area and so is Eastern Mennonite University lawn if you want an outdoor wedding.  I used to live in Charlottesville (which is about 1.5 hours southeast of Harrisonburg) and have actually looked into venues there as well but way over our budget.  Best of luck to you!

Princesskitty101:  Pippin Hill Farm in Charlottesville is on my bucket list of places I’d like to photograph a wedding – http://www.pippinhillfarm.com/ – although they’re probably out of the $1500 budget and I doubt they’d allow an outside caterer. The place is stunning though.

I also shot a wedding at Amber Grove in Richmond last year – http://ambergrove.com/ – feel free to PM me if you’d like to see the blog post.

The tricky thing is going to be a venue that allows outside catering. I know in my immediate area almost every venue is just a shell and you bring in everyone. However, up in the VA area it’s not as common.

The Carolyn Baldwin Pavilion could be an option – http://www.carolynbaldwinlakepavilion.com/

The Vintager Inn allows outside catering I believe – http://thevintagerinn.com/

My husband and got married in Providence Forge, VA at Apple Blossom Plantation. I highly recommend this venue. Good luck! 🙂

New Kent and Saudie creek wineries were nice between Richmond and Hampton Roads. I’m going to visit a couple more places near Shenandoah, Front Royal area on May 2, please remindme to tell you about it after May 4.  All going to be wineries though and I don’t know about the price – my wedding is in Europe anyway, but I live in Hampton Roads
