If you get married on Friday the 13th, are you doomed to having a bad marriage? The 13th is my boyfriend and I’s Anniversary, and I would really love to keep the 13th as our wedding day. However, due to both of us being in college full time, we don’t have a lot of date options (that are on a weekend) for when we can get married without being in school, too. Our only options are May, June, July, and August. Looking at the calender for 2014 (2013 is too soon for us because we need to save money for the wedding and honeymoon), our only options are June 13th and July 13th. July 13th falls on a Sunday, which is terribly inconvienent for guests, especially when we want to have an evening ceremony (6:30-7 p.m.), a sunset photoshoot, and a late reception. So, Friday, June 13th, is our only option. Would you get married on Friday the 13th?

My parents were married on a Friday the 13th and have been together now over 30 years! Superstition schmuperstition. LOL.

Absolutely I would although I’m not very superstitious. It won’t always be on a Friday anyway and to me it’s just another day

My perspective is, superstitions only exist in the minds of people who hold them. So it’s certainly not an objective problem and won’t have any effect on your marriage. But if it’s a problem to you, and will make you uneasy, that’s for you to decide. It wouldn’t bother me.

I said no only because I don’t want to get married on a Friday. We have a lot of guests coming in from out of town for our wedding so it’s just better for them to have it on a Saturday. If it didn’t matter what day we got married on, then sure.

My Dad was born on Friday the 13th and I swear he is one of the most fortunate and lucky people I have ever met…go for it! Do a whole Friday the 13th theme and make the guests walk under ladders to get to the bar, bet they do it!

Personally, I have to admit I am a bit superstitious. So I wouldn’t marry on Friday the 13th. (Infact, I might not marry on any 13th Day)
BUT I do know that a lot of Couples like Wedding Days that are unique or numeric in some way… be that Leap Years (Feb 29th) – April Fools (April 1st) – or Holidays (I myself was looking at Christmas Eve)… or things like 12-12-12 etc.
So there really isn’t anything wrong with the idea… it really is about whatever makes YOU happy.
Hope this helps (somewhat),

Sure. I mean if you want the date to be the 13th eventually your anniversary will fall on a Friday the 13th. I had a Friday evening wedding and it worked out well. It didn’t eat into everyone’s weekend, and it was so much fun! We had all of my family coming from out of town so we got to spend two days with them before they had to go home!! Only 10people that were invited didn’t come so it worked out well.

I think its silly to avoid the date just for that reason. My sister thought we should get married on July 13, 2013 just because its funny.
Date didnt work, but still who cares. Just a day.

Unless you’re superstitious I wouldn’t worry about it. We’re getting married on the 13th and someday our anniversary will fall on a Friday the 13th and we don’t care at all.

if it works for you, do it!

Nothing bad ever happened to me on Friday the 13th until a few years ago. I was wearing a high waisted pencil skirt on a very warm summer day in a very popular and heavily populated place. I noticed a group of men standing behind me laughing saying “that’s a good one” and enjoying the view of my ASS….yes, my skirt had split in the back all the way up revealing my purple lace thong and two plump butt cheeks. I am proud of my lovely lady lumps back there but I would have never wanted strange men and god knows who else to see my booty. Needless to say, although I am sure it was just a random unfortunate event, I am now superstitious. Therefore, I would never get married on Friday the 13th for the fear that I may have yet another embarrassing wardrobe malfunction. I still hope to this day that my assets weren’t viewed by any elderly women or children on that day.
