Generally, the first time is the worst. It also depends on the type of wax. I had a better experience with hot wax vs. strip wax. With the strip wax I was sore for DAYS.

I’m not going to lie, it is painful. With a good waxer though, it’s relatively fast and isn’t unbearable or anything. It’s really worth it and will get easier the more often you go. Tell your waxer that it is your first time. Hot hard wax is the way to go, no strips.

soreness/redness for maybe a day is normal. But then it’s perfectly smooth for weeks. It is so worth it.

Do you currently shave? Do you naturally have thick /dark hair or are you lighter? The answers to thse two questions will determine what to expect but in general it will be painful and it will be tender since its your first time! On a positive note, because it’s your first time it will probably last a lot longer!

Take your advil, be prepared to have your full vagine out on display and try not to be tense.

I went to european wax center and they use hot wax and it was MUCH better than the strips! They are good!

I posted a similar topic a few months ago before getting my first Brazilian if you want to check it out! I have thick dark hair for reference and yea honestly it’s going to hurt but it wasn’t near as bad as I hyped it up to be in my head. I read to drink a lot of water before and don’t drink caffeine.

I was a little sore for about 2 days afterwards the first time but it gets better every time. Now I’ve been 5 or 6 times and the wax goes so much faster and hardly hurts. I go to EWC and won’t go anywhere else

ETA- some people say it’s more painful if you go the week before your period. I’ve gone then and didn’t really see a difference. Afterwards exfoliate a couple times a week to avoid in grown hairs.

I wouldn’t. I never had in grown hairs or any trouble down there until I got a wax. I ended up having to get laser hair removal to remedy the situation because it was so bad. I would reccommend just going straight to laser hair removal and skipping the wax.

I think I’d need propofol beforehand in order to get that done. Yow.

I honestly don’t find them to be that painful (underarm waxing is WAY worse, IMO). The advil beforehand is a definite must. After my first one, I was pretty sore and swollen, so I used lavender oil to help calm my skin down. I also bought a cream from the salon where I get waxed that helps soothe skin and also prevent ingrown hairs.

NowMrsS :  Are you leaving a “landing strip”? If so, I used to get that one all the time. While it does hurt a bit it wasn’t as bad as I expected.  And the parts I expected to hurt the most wasnt too bad either. I heard the landing strip part hurts but I never got that waxed so I’m not sure.

I LOVE Brazilians. I don’t find them excruciating at all and they’re generally quick for me – but I’m a natural blonde. They’re no means a comfortable experience but not as bad as I thought it would be when I went my first time. 800 mg advils, loose pants and soft cotton undies. I apply coconut oil when I get home and overnight and I am totally good to go.

Don’t drink caffeine right before it actually does make a difference in the pain.

For me it hurt for about 5 minutes then I was completely fine. I would say waxing my upper lip hurts more than a full Brazilian. I also go to European wax center, be prepared that they will ask you to get into a strange position to make sure they get everything- which makes sense but when I went for the first time I was naive. Good luck 🙂

I go to EWC and it’s not bad at all. The first time hurts and if you let it grow out it’ll hurt somewhat but if you regularly it’s no big deal at all. I wouldn’t go anywhere but EWC because the hard wax is great!

NowMrsS :  It is painful, but after the first few rips, you’ll start to numb. Do it close to ovulation, not while you are on your period or while PMSing (extra sensitive).

EXFOLIATE the days before going. Pick up all that dead skin before the wax has to fight it. If you’re longer than half an inch, trim it down, otherwise that is just extra that the wax needs to pull. Not every wax specialist trims for you.

I ONLY go for hot wax now. It much much better. Wouldn’t let strip wax near me with a ten foot pole.

The front V is the worst, but the rest underneath and back is fine. I have to practice my breathing lol, and I have a REALLY CHATTY wax lady which helps take my mind off of it.

I always pull hard on my belly skin to keep the area taught – I think that helps..!!

Dont be prudish either – they’ve seen it alllll before!
