MrsPiggles:  I went off in December after my period and just didn’t start a new pack. I’ve been on it for 16 years (almost 32) after I came off things were totally normal 28 day cycle and usual 4 day period. then came the second cycle off and it went forever, 40 days and AF was plain evil, cramps super heavy and lasted longer than ever before.

This cycle is the first one we are trying and I’m trying everyhing to pin point O, temping is hard as I’m a shift working so accuracy of difficult trying to temp same time of day. I was using OPKs but never got a full on positive I got 2 days of almost and then it was totally negative. fertility friend seems to think maybe I Od around that time according to temps but who knows. We did the BD a few times around that time as my CM seemed right timing also.

now I’m 5DPO according to the chart estimatations but who knows!!

least of we dont get the BFP this month I’ll have a clearer picture for next month 😝

KHogan:Β  Ive heard some people get a lighter AF the first month or couple coming off..hopefully it levels out. But if youre ovulating a l if ht AF is not bad!Β  I had a 32 day cycle the first month followed by AF. Horrible AF. I did not have a light one and it lasted about 5.5days. But I had heavy regular cycles before birth control so Im probably back to normal. Other than AF, body changes are larger breast(all the time.lol) its so weird, they dont hurt they just grew. Also headaches and nausia. Hopefully all that calms down this month. I am temping and using opks this month so I will know if im back to ovulating in a week or two.

MrsPiggles: i was like you, on the pill for 10 years (but i took some breaks in between just to give my body a break) i got off the pill in March of 2014, my period came exactly 28 days later (guessing from my body being so used to being on the pill??? not sure) then the next month (May) it came 32 days later. My cycle was an average of 32-34 days. My period was not anymore painful than it was when I was on the pill, it just lasted a few days longer. I didn’t feel any different when I was on or off the pill.

I started TTC in October of 2014, and I got lucky and got pregnant on the first month of trying. My daughter was born July 2015. She will be 8 months tomorrow

MrsPiggles:  Ah not going to lie I’m a little jealous your AF was more “present” than mine was (although I don’t envy the return to real cramping… I am DREADING that!). I think that you being disappointed you weren’t pregnant was so sweet – I did a pregnancy test last week wondering if maybe my “AF” had been an implantation bleed but no such luck, and I felt the same way you did! We aren’t really hoping to TTC until May/June but it was so exciting to think that maybe it was happening!

Coming off the pill is such an emotional rollercoaster!

beesy2015:  it’s nice to see I’m not the only one, I packed on weight after going off in december. everything I read said this wasn’t the norm so have been trying to work on my diet etc but still it can’t be a coincidence.

hopefully the bloating etc starts to relax a bit I feel so heavy!!

This is a really good idea for a thread. I am coming off the pill after 8 years next week. Looking back at peoples responses about weight gain and bad skin I am now feeling apprehensive!

waterlilly15:  I have done a lot of reasearch into it and apparently it is a hormonal issue. Our body has not had to produce hormones in so long and sometimes goes into overdrive. I have gone from 52kg to 61.5kg in only a matter of months. My exercise is the same, my food intake is the same (i eat very healthy), but the weight keeps stacking on. I have gone from a size 6 to a size 10. I thought if I could get pregnant I could cope with the weight gain, but no luck there either πŸ™ So hard to get pregnant!

beesy2015:  I went off BC in October and I’ve gained 10 pounds. I’ve been 100 pounds since I was 16, so an extra 10 pounds is welcome, but surprising since I’ve been so constant for so long! Otherwise i’ve noticed my skin has been a little oily but no breakouts. My period is taking some time to regulate. I had a short period last cycle, but a longer one the cycle before that.

I’ve also been a lot nicer off off the pill. My general mood is better and so is my libido.

ChooAndLou:  Yes!!! That is exactly me too!!! And my periods are lasting 1-2 days and very light! My moods have improved 100%! Also I should point out when I say size 6 up to 10 that is Aus sizes, so size 0 up to a 6 in US sizes. So I was quite a slight frame before and now I am chubby πŸ™

MrsPiggles:  We’re weren’t really planning on having kids any time soon, but now that I’m not on BC, we’re considering trying right after the wedding. Hormones…

Min other news, my last cycle was 22 days and today is day 22 and no AF so hopefully they will be a normal length from this point on! I also think I have gained weight… But I’m scared to weigh myself.

I was on the pill for like 15 years. I stopped the day before our wedding (mid-pack). I had 2 natural cycles of pretty typical length and conceived on the third one (we started trying right away). I didn’t have any problems at all coming off BC.

I was on the pill on and off for 17 years (!) and went off toward the end of December because I was about to have a cone biopsy to see whether I had cervical cancer.

There;s been some speculation that the Pill can contribute to cervical dysplasia. Plus I knew sex was the last thing on either of our minds at that point, and I also knew one of two things was about to happen–either I was going to wind up having cancer, and the treatments would likely make me sterile (and sex would be out of the question until that was finished, in any event) or else we would want to get started on babymaking literally the MINUTE I was off pelvic rest.

Well, the withdrawal bleeding happened as normal, and then I got another period about three weeks later. And then I got a very heavy period two weeks later that took forever to stop all the way. It finally did, though, and now (roughly three weeks later) I am back on. Spotting the day before yesterday, regular period yesterday, period from hell today–woke up with the overnight pad soaked through, underwear soaked through, pajama pants soaked through, and then four HUGE clots. It seems to have mellowed out since then.

This is somewhat *less* alarming than it might otherwise be since I’ve known for a while that I have uterine fibroids–and my gyno doesn’t seem overly concerned about it–but if my OPK shows I’m not ovulating I will definitely be making a trip back to the doctor to get checked for more sinister things.

Has anyone not had any EWCM and hardly any watery CM around fertile window after going off the pill?
