For me, the cycle after I got off the pill was normal and regular. There was no real change. My period got a little heavier, but was still very predictable!

It truly is different for everyone!

I voted other. I came off the pill six weeks ago, after our wedding. I have PCOS and the last time I was off birth control I didn’t menstruate at all (that’s how it was diagnosed). I expected the same thing to happen this time and was stunned (and oddly happy) to get AF on what would have been CD35. Looking back on my log, there were some definite potential O symptoms two weeks earlier! So potentially, my cycles could be normalizing.

I lost 17 kg (I think 37 lb) over the last year and a half so potentially that has jump started my ovulation and thus my cycles. I’m also on Metformin and think that I have always potentially been a little insulin resistant (used to get a lot of diabetes type symptoms but never the test results to match). I plan on using OPKs and continuing to chart this cycle, not that we are trying yet, but to try and gather more information about how my body is functioning. Exciting times!

Sorry for the novel! I don’t know how much you’ll think it applies but thought I’d give you the full story 😀

I was pleasantly surprised that mine we very normal right away. Before the pill I could just about set a watch by it, I was so regular. On the pill it always came during the week of “period pills” but I could never tell when… And now, thank goodness it seems to be back to clockwork. Cramps have been horrible but other than that no issue.

i went off the pill in Sept 2010 (nearly 2 years ago) and they still aren’t regular. but i’d been on it for 7 years, and don’t remember what they were like back then. At this stage I don’t seem to have PCOS, or any other reason for irregular cycles, but starting to investigate. Mine vary from 28-44 days, with no predictable pattern.

I didn’t have the pill (Implanon) but it took me about 2-3 months to get my period back. The other issues i had went away within like 2 weeks though.

I used the pill for a long time but most recently used the Nuva Ring, with cycles varying from 26-38 days. I have been hormone free since January 12

I voted other because I don’t know if I had enough cycles to know if they were “normal.” I came off, had a “regular period” like I would on the inactive week (I never took the inactive pills, so it was like finishing the pack), had one more period, and then got my BFP. The one cycle I had (in which I ovulated–I was tracking), was 28 days, and I believe my second one would have been 31 if I hadn’t gotten pregnant, presuming my luteal phase would have been the same as my first.

I’ve been off the pill since January.  I had three normal cycles (30, 31, and 34 days) and then it’s been messed up since then.  After that last period I waited 72 days for my period.  When it eventually came, it lasted only 2 days so I’m not even sure if it I had ovulated.  It’s been about 28 days since then and I’m not sure if I’ve ovulated yet.

I’m ready to start trying to get knocked up so hopefully things regulate soon!

mine never regulated (over 12 years on BCP and 9 months off). i was charting and temping, so I knew when my fertile times were, so when we finally decided to TTC, i was able to get pregnant right away. there is no way i would have if i wasn’t temping as my cycles started getting in the 50+ days range.

This is my second month of the pill and everything seems to be back to normal now… just worse cramps and a little heavier flow. Today was our first official TTC so I’m hoping we got lucky the first try! haha. 🙂

My cycle went back to normal (or rather stayed normal) immediately, but it took months for the other side effects to wear off.

I’ve been off since April and I’m still wonky! I didn’t chart my first cycle, then I had a 29 day and then a 24 day which doesn’t seem horrible except that I O a little late which means my luteal phase it short. Although my past cycle Oed a couple of days earlier than the one before, so hopefully it’s a sign that things are starting to line up.
