My sisters boyfriend is going to marry us. He is not a minister or pastor or Justice of the Peace or anything. We are just planning on him getting ordained online. Has anyone done this or know how to do this?

My Fiance did this to perform both of his sister’s weddings and his BIL did it so he can perform ours. They were both ordained through the Universal Life Church, online. You need to check with your local authorities to find out what he needs to do once he’s ordained to be able to legally perform weddings in your state. When Fiance did it in Ohio, he had to file paperwork and pay $15 to the state. In Texas, he didn’t have to do anything, just sign the certificate…same for BIL here in TN. Just make sure you know the rules! Where will your wedding be performed, and maybe I can find some more specific info for you? I’m an expert on this by now!!

I couldn’t really find any facts about being ordained. It all asked for money in order to get the certifcate. But I did find this, it’s kind of confusing to me, but I hope it helps you out. Good Luck!!!

I found it off of this link….. http://openordination.org/state_faq.php#Montana
I also found this at http://marriage.about.com/cs/marriagelicenses/a/officiants.htm

He needs to get ordained in the place where he will be performing the ceremony. If he doesn’t want to do that, you could get a quickie marraige at the court house, and then just have him perform for the wedding.
My son just got ordained online so that he could marry us, and it was very easy.
