I am in the same boat, but I lost weight about 3 years ago and those last few pounds are still there!  I’m very healthy now and my weight is stable, which is great.  All in all I’m happy with my body as it’s healthy and a good weight for me.

My personal trainer said that for childbearing women, your body really fights if you try to make it give up those last few pounds.  it needs a little bit of fat in case you fall pregnant.  If you’re in a healthy weight range, it can be harder to lost a few pounds than it is for someone who’s overweight to lose more than a few pounds.

I guess my advice is focus on health and fitness and your body will settle into it’s own best weight.

This is counter-intuitive, but I found that eating a huge dinner out once a week seemed to boost my metabolism and I always dropped a little a couple of days later. Also, I excercied 5-6x a week.

add some intervals into your cardio workouts. Add strength training if you do not already do so and be vigilant about your diet (I’ve mentioned before that I love Tosca Reno’s clean eating)

I found that switching up the style of my cardio helped.  So I went from exclusively running to adding in biking and rowing.  I guess doing different motions helped build muscles in a different way, and of course muscle burns fat even after you’re done working out.

I am in this same rut too!! pretty much exactly the same!  I lost 20 total then put 3 back on and am stuck, but I know why….it’s because I have not been as strict with my dieting as I should and I cut out some gym time.  What happens is that our bodies are in maintain mode…we reallly need to amp up the exercise and focus on what we are eating…weightloss really is a life long plan and losing the weight is really only half the battle unfortunately ๐Ÿ™

Some people don’t need to work out everyday or focus on what they eat, others like myself do.

For the next two weeks until we leave for the wedding, I’m going to try to mix up the exercise a little (usually it’s mostly running, but I could use a break from that anyway – going to start training for a half marathon after the wedding), and try to do intervals when I do run. I’m stuck at 143 and I think that’s where my body likes to be.

I’m happy with 143; I just bought size 6 jeans!! And I didn’t lose all my curves in the process of losing 25 lbs!! The only thing I’m unhappy with is that I’m hanging onto some belly fat. 140 is my new goal as long as some of that 3 lb loss is belly. (I’d love for it ALL to be belly but I’m not that naive!)

High school weight was 135. Don’t know if that’s realistic because my metabolism sure as hell ain’t what it used to be (I look skinny but healthy at 135, and back then I ate taco bell pretty much every day. Oh, and my chest was a cup size smaller). But I’m happy the way I am….on a good day. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Oh yeah, no way can I amp up the exercise. I work out 5-6 days a week and I’ve pretty much reached what my time and energy level will allow. (That includes an hour of yoga, an hour of circuit training, running at least 15 miles a week, strength training one day, and the 100 pushups program – about to finish week 3. That’ll be done by the wedding.)

This season on the Biggest Loser, Jillian said that a good rule of thumb is to eat very strictly 2 days a week, moderately 3 days a week, and give yourself the weekends.  She said it really helps to boost your metabolism.  Plus, I’ve found that if I am being too strict with myself, I tend to give up haha… oops. ๐Ÿ™‚
