The girls got hair and makeup at the salon and got dressed at his parents house. The guys got ready at a groomsmens house. We didn’t want to spend money on getting a hotel room.

We got married near our home and also near my mums home.

My Darling Husband got ready with his 2 best men at our house. I got ready with my mum at hers.  The photographers and videographers came to both too.

If I was getting married at a hotel or something I might have stayed the night before and got ready on site.

octobermoon23 : I was in the same situation so I got ready at my parents, for nostalgia too. Fiance stayed at a hotel. It was nice staying and then getting ready in the family home.

All the guys got ready at my in-laws house. All the women got ready at an airbnb house my parents were renting for the week.

I’m getting married where my parents live (but we don’t live there), and we ended up renting a hotel suite for the girls to get ready in. We thought about doing it at my parent’s home, but my mom won’t be able to relax and can’t stop herself from playing host and then being exhausted later, so it’s easier and more stress-free (mostly for her) if we go somewhere else.

The guys are getting ready at the venue. They have a little carriage house attached that you can rent out. It’s just a bit too dark for all the hair and makeup, so we’re sticking the guys in there.

We had the same situation, parents lived in the area of the wedding and we didn’t. Darling Husband rented a hotel room so we could store wedding stuff in there so he just got ready there. I had my make up and hair done at a salon near my parent’s house and then “got ready”/ put on my dress at my parents.

We have my venue for the whole day, so we will be getting ready there. They have nice spaces that are well separated so there isn’t a risk that the bride and groom will run into each other.

I got ready at my dad and step mother’s home, along with my bridesmaids. Darling Husband got ready at his parent’s home, along with his groomsmen. We live in the same city (in fact, our home was closer to our venue than either of our parent’s homes) but our street is not very accessible and our home is under renovations, so wasn’t suitable.

All of the photos came out really nice. It’s nice to spot elements of our parents’ homes in the background, such as my step mum’s really gorgeous freestanding mirror that I used for getting my hair done or my MIL’s favourite paintings on the wall.

octobermoon23 :  I feel you! My mom is exactly the same way. She will say that she won’t worry about it, but then last mintue she would go out and buy a bunch of food to make some elaborate appetizers or huge meal and offer things to everyone all day! And then she’s exhausted.. I feel her because I inherited the same hostess gene I guess. But she needs to relax and let herself get pampered on the day too!

We got ready at a hotel. I would’ve rather gotten ready at home, but there would have been 0 room, and it just wasn’t practical.
