I have been racking my brain for months on this issue. I’d love to hear where other bees got ready. Any hotels that also have a beautiful lobby or rooftop where they would let us do a first look and/or some wedding party shots (assuming we are staying there, of course)?
My wedding ceremony starts at 7pm so my issue seems to be that I need the room we are getting ready in for the night before hte wedding and night of to gaurentee we will have enough time to get ready. That gets expensive! If I can’t find anything that is nice enough we are thinking about renting someone’s fabulous apartment on air bnb. I have found apartments that are gorgeous for two nights for the price of the suites, but hte downside is you have to deal with the owner’s decor and potenitally lack of “polish” that a hotel provides. The hunt continutes…

@BkLegalBee: Oooh, this is a question I’ve been pondering over too! It seems like such an extravagance to pay for TWO nights of hotel just to get that crucial “getting ready time” which just happens to be check in/check out time for most hotels. Not to mention that I already live in the city anyways, but my apt definitely wouldn’t make for a good photo shoot location.
I’m considering staying at the Gansevoort hotel – not cheap, but pretty lobby and rooftop, along with cute Meatpacking area for pictures. Where is your wedding?
I would strongly recommend calling places for their picture policy, and then taking a tour to actually see the suites. Many of the fancier hotels wouldn’t allow photos unless your actual wedding was booked there. Also, as I’m sure you know, NYC hotels can be tiny, and depending on the size of your wedding party and if you’re having photographers come in, even the suites can be a tight squeeze.
What a good idea – never thougt of AirBnB! Might have to try looking there too…
Let me know if you find any good leads!

Hi! I’m looking for a place to get ready too, so I figured I’d revive this thread. Did either of you decide on a place?Or come across anything promising?
Or does anyone else have suggestions? I’m getting married in Tribeca, so downtown is preferred.

@BirdieNY: I decided to go with the Gansevoort Meatpacking. Most because the lobby and rooftop would provide beautiful picture locations in case we can’t go about town due to rain.
Another Bee stayed at the W hotel in the Financial district, and got an AMAZING deal on a huge suite that was also used as an after party spot. Their prices are a bit less than Gansevoort. Good luck!
