I love looking at everyone elses getting ready pictures. I absolutely want to get these pics. Thankfully we have a package with our photographer for the entire day, so they are there for as many hours as we need them. I want pro pics of me getting my hair and makup done and my mom lacing me up. I can’t imagine not getting those shots.

@Cummins59:  Love your pics! Your dress is to die for and your last pic with you and your bridesmaids is just too cute!

I think that the getting ready pictures are less about you getting ready and more about the interactions and emotions between you and your girls/mom/grandma. I will definitely be having my photographer there for the getting ready time, cause i know there is going to be lots of crying and laughing to take pictures of 🙂

@queenamythe1st:  That is correct.

If telling a story through photos is an important reason why you have hired a photographer, have them cover the getting ready part of the day.  It’s like reading a book and skipping the first two or three chapters.  In addition some of the most amazing emotional moments can unexpectedly happen during this process.

I needed privacy getting ready to concentrate (I did my own hair & makeup), so I opted to have the photographer come towards the end of me getting ready (makeup and hair mostly done, just needed to put the veil and dress on). He captured makeup and hair prep photos of my bridesmaids, though. My parents got ready at their place, but thinking about it now it may have been nice to get pictures with them pre-ceremony.

In the end, though, I needed to minimize distractions to ensure I got ready in time.

If your photographer isn’t there to capture you in the process of getting ready, I do recommend that you at least get shots of you both pre-ceremony since the anticipation makes for really special photos.

@PacificMrs:  Thank you! We had a lot of fun getting ready, it helped ease the wedding day jitters.
