- Wedding: June 2012
Hi bees, I need your advice. I’m about a month out from my wedding and still crambling to figure out hair and makeup. Yes, I know, it’s crazy. I have been through multiple leads, all of which have fallen through, so I am desperately trying to figure this out within the next few days. Here is the situation. The ceremony site is a good 50 minutes away from my parent’s house (and mine is about that far too, in case you were wondering). I found a salon that is about 3 blocks from the ceremony site (for real).
I’ve found someone who can come out to the house to do our hair for a reasonable price. However, I’m worried about the logistics. She will have to start at 11:00am, and we will need to leave the house by 3:15 in order to get to the ceremony site by 4. I plan to get dressed and take bridal portraits/pics with my girls at the ceremony site before the wedding (which starts at 5). I’m worried because the photographer will only be there starting at 2:00pm. Which means he probably wouldn’t even get me getting both hair/makeup done, let alone all the girls.
The other option is the salon near the ceremony. They are a little less expensive, and can start us at 2:00 to get us out of there by 3:30. That would get us to the ceremony site too early, actually, since we can’t get in until four. But this means the photographer would catch ALL of us getting ready, plus we wouldn’t be wasting 50 minutes of our 10 hours with him driving.
But, not all of my girls want their hair and makeup done. If I do it at the salon, will all of us meet there? Even the girls who are doing their own hair and makeup? Would they have to be totally ready before 2? Do they just meet us at the ceremony site? I’d really like to have all my girls there with me while I’m getting ready. And would it be weird going to a salon because it’s not private? Would I be missing out on a different type of atmosphere than I would get at home? I’m just thinking logistically, in terms of timing, the salon would be better. But how is the experience? Has anyone here gotten ready at the salon? How did you work things out with your bridesmaids who didn’t do hair/makeup? Please let me know what it was like! What would you guys choose…home or salon??
