In your situation, I would go with the salon.  If anything, I think hair and makeup will always stand the chance of lasting longer than you have planned, so a 30 minute difference is perfect buffer time for getting you to your wedding venue on time!  Also, though not all of your bridesmaids will be doing hair/makeup at the salon, I imagine they’d be more than happy to join you for the experience,  Maybe you can have them bring some entertainment for down time – we had boggle to keep us busy, and a few of my other bridesmaids read books while waiting.  It all worked out okay! Being near your venue definitely has my vote!

Salon, for the same reasons as PP said.  As well as having the photographer present, if that is important to you (personally, i skipped this)

I would say that you should have the 2 girls show up at the salon totally ready.  That way they are in pictures looking beautiful, and they don’t feel super awkward trying to get ready at a salon that they chose to not use.  Also don’t worry about the “getting there early” aspect.  Trust me, if you are done by 3:30 then you’ll take your time getting in the car and driving over to the venue.  You want EXTRA time built in, just in case the hair/makeup takes a long time.  For my wedding, we planned to leave at 4, but my hair wasn’t done until 4:30.  Fortunately we built in this buffer:  i wasn’t supposed to get to the venue until 5.  We were rushing as if we were late, but we were actually right on time. Then we took pictures at the venue as I put the dress on.
