Hi everyone, I am soon to be engaged to a man who has embraced and accepted my control-freak nature and allowed me to choose my own engagement ring.
I’m trying to decide on a setting and it’s down to a 1.75mm or a 2.44mm band. The petite setting has sidestones that run halfway down the band in an eternity ring-esque style, which I really like. The other band is plain and has sidestones accenting the center stone, and generally seems like it would be more hardy.
I graduate to become a nurse next month, and I would like to have a ring that will be able to hold up to the wear and tear. I’ll most likely switch to a plain band after I’m actually married, but I’d at least like to be able to wear my engagement ring out and about for a while, otherwise I see no point in having one if it stays hidden in a box day after day.
Does anyone out there have a petite ring setting themselves, or have some knowledge/experience that could give me some insight as to whether a 1.75mm ring band would be sturdy enough, or should I go with something a little thicker? The setting will be 14k white gold.
