Thank you ladies for the response to my last post about July vs. December.
We’ve decided to go with the July 4th bbq/wedding weekend. I am nearly bursting with ideas.
There is camping at the campground right next to the state park, so I figured people who still wanted to do the camping thing could just pop over there afterwards. (Would you guys pick July 3rd then, so people could have the remainder of the weekend to celebrate the 4th?)
Also, I think it would be pretty romantic to spend our first night together camping under the stars (and makin’ s’mores!!)
So, in the essence of avoiding the cliche "red, white, and blue" decor, what color scheme should I consider? I was thinking to nix the red, since it’s not one of my favorite colors, and try to work around a royal blue, lighter blue, and white color scheme.
I’m envisioning long tables, white enamel lanterns down the center, blue checked table runners, lots of candles. What sorts of flowers, if any? white daisys??

I saw a wedding that was aqua, red and white. It was so pretty! It didn’t look patriotic at all.

I just went to a wedding this past July 4. The bride used the colors blue and silver. Their wedding photos should be online in the next few weeks at http://stevezweddings.com/blog/ (the "matt & tina" wedding in boulder). good luck!

Our colors are Royal blue and silver.
Since your wedding is in the summer, yellow could be a really cute accent color.
keep an eye out around the holidays.. i found TONS of decorations on clearance
White daisys could be really cute! since our wedding is in January we are going with white roses and green fillers.
There are white battery powered paper lanterns at the dollar tree right now (you can get the batteries there too) so you don’t risk a fire hazard
as far as the campground goes, make sure there are plenty of spots available for your guests. Also have hotel rooms available for those who aren’t bug friendly.

I’m July 2009 and am using Lake Blue and champagne accents… Seemed to go well with our venue and all the girls liked it, so it was an easy decision.
I have some inspiration boards with the colors on my blog.
