Hey married bees, did you have the dress cleaned after the alterations were done (Before the big day)? Is this something that is typically done and did you find it necessary? Are any unmarried bees planning on doing it?

@Weetzie: I didn’t find a cleaning necessary after alterations but it did need to be pressed. My seamstress did that.

- Wedding: January 2013 - Harbourfront Grand Hall
@Weetzie: It goes to the cleaners before the wedding to be PRESSED, not actually cleaned. It’s brand new!

It will probably need to be steamed or pressed, but I doubt I’ll have it cleaned.

Mine got steamed/pressed but not cleaned.

I’m wondering the same thing as mine is a sample. – it doesn’t LOOK dirty, but I’m thinking a cleaning couldn’t hurt …does anyone know what the process is like?

I was thinking about this just the other day actually but unfortunately Im not mainly because of how expensive it is to do so!

@Weetzie: i got it cleaned before. only bc my first seamstress was a nightmare and instea of keeping it in the garment bag, she hung it to collect dust. the tulle was filthy and i was livid.

@occhimusicali: mine is a sample too I probable should’ve included that in the question
@mrsalexander: do you know around how much it costs?

I’d probably get it cleaned since it was a sample, whether it looks dirty or not.

I am just getting mine pressed but since yours is a sample I would probably have it cleaned as well.

@Weetzie. Mine was new but if it had been a sample I definitely would have considered it. I did basic dry cleaning after I wore it (no preservation/no box) and it was $175.
