I’m not having a ‘true’ destination wedding. We are getting married in my hometown which is about a 16 hour drive from where we live now.
I’ve just started the planning process and the one thing I keep thinking about but can’t figure out a solution, is how to get the dress to the wedding. I’m going with a ball gown and purchasing it where I currently live to make it easier for alteration purposes.
I suppose we could ship it but I’m worried it will somehow get lost or it will be all wrinkled when it gets there. We are trying to avoid driving 16 hours each way.
What are you bee’s doing about your dress?

one of my BM’s had a personal hand steamer that we used on all our dresses before putting them on in the hotel room. It was really easy and it did an amazing job. You could ask around to see if you could borrow one from somebody.
Also if you’re really worried you could take it to be pressed or steamed the day before at a dry cleaners. They’d do it professionally and it’d be ready the day of.

Great Idea @Rgeddy! I think an investemtn into one of those hand steamers is a FABULOUS idea! You won’t regret it and you’ll get a TON of use out of it at home as well!

We are having a destination wedding as well. I bought a really sturdy carry on just for the dress. I jokingly told my future hubby that we’d buy an extra seat to ensure the dress doesn’t leave my sight. I’m to scared to ship the dress.
The hand steamer is a really good idea! You can also look into dress preservation shops around the area that can steam your dress.

I would NOT ship it. I get anxiety issues just thinking about that. I feel like 1/2 the time I get a package delivered it is a bit smooshed, got a bit wet, or was a day late.
I bought a hand steamer at Target for a fairly good price and will be taking it MX with us. Although, it’s silk organza and my salon told me it probably wouldn’t even need that… just a hot shower.
