Hi Little Bees:
I’m new here! And I love your stories and everything you have to say about wedding, hair etc etc. I have been dating my bf for about 3.5 years we have known each other for 12 years as friends first. We have had a great relationship the only thing is that the only thing we fight is about –when is he goign to propose??? I’m getting so frustrated. I have come close twice before to getting married–my first time I got engaged at 18 lasted for 6 years -ENGAGED! then I took two years off-met my kids father and we were really inlove and I got pregnant and we were going to start a life together then I found out he was cheating on me. So we broke it off then I had the twins –stayed single for 5 years and then I started dating my BF– and I’m like feeling so sad and hopeless. We get along great, he gets along super with my kids and even my Ex– and with my friends etc, the guy is a doll but he was very traumatized from his previous marriage–he had a 5 year marriage that was really bad and he is afraid. I think I’m about to lose it.. I’m driving him nuts and It driving me nuts. ANY ADVICE–I’m so nottttttt patient–OH GOD!!!!!

@Kaitywaity: If he’s traumatized, then I wouldn’t be pressuring him. That doesn’t sound fair to him 🙁
Also, it’s impatient, not unpatient. lol 🙂

It’s best to leave it alone and not pressure him. The more you insist, the more he’s going to pull back. Other than an open honest discussion of if he plans to get married at some point…
badgering him for a ring is only going to kill the surprise if there was ever going to be one and put him off.

@Kaitywaity: As hard as it is, given his marriage history, I would absolutely do everything my power not to bug him about it and run him off!

Have you guys talked about marriage at all?

I would have an open discussion about his fears-in a nonthreatening way. it may be a good idea for him to seek some type of counselling. If he does propose at some point, he may start comparing both times, which you wouldn’t want.

Have you tired Mr. Bee’s plan?

@KoiKove: That Mr. Bee’s plan WORKS! I have friends who got on this site and actually got engaged because of it. They should do testimonials. lol
