My fiance is dreading engagement pictures this Saturday. Neither of us love the camera, and the camera doesn’t really love us most of the time too; but I’m hoping that with a professional photographer instead of an iphone, we can get a few good shots of the two of us.
Did any of you struggle with a Fiance who wasn’t excited about engagement photos? How did you get him out of his funk?
If he’s faking happy, the pictures won’t turn out well. We already pushed this back twice since January and we’re running out of time!

I don’t think he’s thrilled, but he understands. He’s gripping b/c I’m asking him to wear his uniform in some of them 😉 I think your Fiance will warm up once the shoot starts, just relax and he will too!

I was worried about that too…but we have taken our engagements and it was totally fine. We had a wonderful photographer, which really helped, and in the end my Fiance didn’t mind at all. It was actually kind of fun, and the shots came out really great. Don’t worry, it’ll work out better than you expect!

i had this issue- and what was worse we had gotten some reallllly bad news an the morning before the pics..my Fiance hates the camera…
I just made faces at him and him back at me,… joked around and we were able to catch him off guard a few times until he warmed up..halfway thru he was enjoying it and got into it
Some of the “funny face” pics are the best ones! And most people will tell ya..thats more like us anyway.

Mine is dreading them, but is doing it because it’s something I really want. Ours aren’t until the last weekend in May, but I plan to sit down with him & look at some engagements pictures online, just so he gets the idea of what engagement pictures look like and what we’ll be doing. Hopefully once we’re actually doing them he’ll losen up and have fun with it. So maybe showing him some pictures so he knows what to expect, they don’t all have to be lovey dovey, gazing into each others eyes..

My Fiance was excited about our e-pics and I was the one freaking out, lol! I guess I was afraid of how I would end up looking in the pictures but thankfully they turned out amazing. We love our photographer and she allowed us to be ourselves which made Fiance and I feel at ease. Also, our shoot was 3 hours long so we planned doing certain activities that would keep us entertained and make it fun for both of us. We had a picnic, sipped on some sangria, Fiance played his guitar for me and we even flew a kite. We had a blast, truly enjoyed it 🙂

Happy hour beforehand?!
I think an experienced photographer will be able to help, I bet 95% of grooms are uncomfortable with engagement photos. 🙂

@Luv2BeachIt: Ha, I kinda like that idea!

I bring my husband along to the shoot, he can talk sports and other “guy stuff” it helps to loosen them up, plus he is funny, so he makes them both laugh and helps to set the tone. Always takes a couple of minutes, but about 10 mins in… Smooth sailing.

we went out the night before our e-pics, and he was way hungover/still drunk during our shoot. that definitely helped him stay natural infront of the camera! We also had an awesome photographer that made us both feel super comfortable…so that helped too! Oh, and I promised bloody marys after our morning shoot…lol I guess alcohol is our answer to most uncomfortable situations.
