- Wedding: May 2011 - Trinity Lutheran Church & Idlewild Country Club
So Mr. Griaffe and I recieved two giant packages this week. Inside there were seven nice gifts from our registry. We recieved them from Tom & Shelly, a couple who has all ready RSVPed yes to our wedding.
Tom & Shelly are travelling from out of state so it makes sense that they’d send gifts ahead of time.
Here’s my questions, do I sent them a thank you card now or do we wait until after the wedding? Do we send the two thank yous? One for the gifts and one for coming to the wedding?

This happened to us too. I’m not sure if I’m following proper etiquette, but I’ve been sending thank you notes out as soon as we get the gift. If I know they’re coming to the wedding I say I can’t wait to see them then. I don’t intend on sending another thank you note after the wedding unless we decide on sending photos out with them.

Please send thank you’s as soon as you get the gifts. This way the sender knows you received and you know you have sent them a thank you

I’m a fan of sending the card immediately after getting the gift. I just don’t want anything extra hanging over my head. I sent out thank yous from my bridal shower literally the day after the event. So that would be my choice.

I think the proper ettiquette is to send them out as soon as your recieve the gift. We waited until after the wedding (like 2-3 months, opps!) because we used a photo of us from the wedding holding ‘thank you’ flags. Actually that reminds me, I still have 3-4 more to send out…
