A co-worker is having two weddings, one in Israel and one here in LA within a month of each other; hubby and I are not attending Israel wedding and are also unable to attend the local wedding. Our office is hosting a bridal shower for her in a few weeks…the bride has gift registries for Bloomingdales and Macy’s and I’m afraid I cannot afford the items on her lists. Is it tacky to get her a gift card to one of the stores? I’m stumped as to what I will get her for the wedding present as well 🙁
Thank you for reading this and your responses are very much appreciated!
Have a great day, bees! 🙂

i dont think that anyone will ever turn down a gift card, especially to a place they registered.

Not tacky. We got a ton of gift cards and I loved it! Sometimes money gets absorbed into paying for bills and life but the gift card ensures I’m going to get an item from a store that I want.

I think it’s perfectly fine and I’m sure they will appreciate it very much. 🙂

A gift card is fine. I got quite a few and I was just as happy to get those as I was to get the gifts.

Thanks all, I was just concerned as I will be getting hitched in a month myself; granted mine is not as expansive as hers, it’s just a simple courthouse wedding but I feel bad that she took the time to do a registry and it feels like an easy way out for me lol

I never got any gift cards at my showers, but got plenty as wedding gifts. Oh, I guess I did get one from an aunt – but I think that was cause she couldn’t attend and it was mailed with a card.
However, I wouldn’t have found it tacky or odd had I gotten gift cards at the showers. We loved getting gift cards, as it allowed us to purchase items that we didn’t get, or items we wanted but never asked for after the fact.

I think I’ll have more time after my own wedding to save up for their wedding gift LOL clearly I can’t duplicate even if we got them a gift card for the other store! Haha!
