Question…do you think it would be weird or somehow offensive to offer my BMs gift certificates for their dresses? My situation is this…my Fiance wants a fairly smallish wedding and I am the only girl in my family, so my parents are pretty much covering the costs. I have a good bit saved specifically for my wedding (originally planned on a huge wedding but that is a whole ‘nother topic between Fiance and I.)
My friends will have to travel to this event, including time off work, lodging, etc. And some of them are still students or just getting started career-wise. It’s kind of my personality to have a guilt trip if I feel I’m ‘imposing’ on anyone.
So seriously, I would be happy to offer gift certificates to J.Crew, David’s Bridal, whatever, for whatever dress they want (I plan on letting them choose a style that flatters them but all in the same color.) Is this strange though? Would it seem offensive, like I’m saying I think they’re poor or something?

I don’t think offering to pay for your BM’s dresses (or contributing toward them) is offensive at all. I think it’s a great gesture. Even if they can afford it, it’s not like anyone gets exciting aobut shelling out to buy a dress someone else picked out. And if you’re letting them pick the cut, a gift certificate is a good way to go.

I don’t think this would be strange or offensive. I think they might appreciate this nice gesture, helping them out with the costs of being a Bridesmaid or Best Man. I was in a wedding where the bride offered to pay for our dresses and it was great.

Not offensive. Could you present it to them as a gift during a little Bm get together? You can really say this is a thank you gift for being so supportive of your day.

I think it’s awesome!!!
Personally, I took care of my ‘maids dresses, and they LOOOVVVED that. They all expect to pay out the caboodle for their dresses anyways, so it’s a lovely offset, especially since they’re traveling. You’re so considerate!

Not offensive – great idea! My sister is a Bridesmaid or Best Man in a wedding this year and the bride gave them 100 gift cards towards JCrew (where they purchased the dresses). She greatly appreciated the gesture, and I think that most BMs would, too!
