i didn’t use any wedding gifts until after the wedding.

You should open them now and send a thank you note now.  I think technically you’re not supposed to use them until the wedding, so they can be returned if you don’t end up getting married or the marriage fizzles out shortly after  (What Kim Kardashian should have done)

cml:  No, open them now and send thank yous promptly.  People will want to know you received the gift and you will have that many less thank you sto write after the wedding.

I sent thank yous out for all gifts when they were received up until a few weeks prior to the wedding. After that I was just too busy, and I’m sure guests understand. We opened them, logged them for thank you’s, then stored them. I hope to get all of my thank you’s out in the next couple weeks.

cml:  I would have stored stuff and not used it but we live in a tiny apartment- for a while we kept things in boxes but then it started to take over the apartment. So we’ve unpacked things for use. And this is gifts that have been sent to us for the shower that is in a month from now! No way that we would have lasted waiting to open everything after our wedding. We would have nowhere to live. Packaging these days.
