My Fiance was asking if we were going to give each other wedding gifts. And while the responsible part of me says no we shouldn’t because we are in money saving mode for the wedding and honeymoon, part of me thinks this is a one time opportunity and we dont have to spend a fortune on gifts.
So he was asking about what I would like and I don’t know what traditional gifts are? What do you bees think are good and what are BAD gifts? I think he is leaning more towards jewelry, but if he gives me a gift of jewelry on my wedding day, I’d feel obligated to wear it. But I already have all my pieces picked out…what do you think?
Also, what do you think about DIY/thoughtful type gifts? Is there a place for that, or should the gifts be something tangible you can cherish forever?

My Fi and I never talked about wedding gifts, and I didn’t get him anything but he surprised me on our wedding day. His groomsman found me in my dressing room and handed me a note which said something along the lines of “I have waited for you for a long time and can’t wait to be your husband, Tell groomsman YES and he has something for you” so I choked back my tears, said yes, and got handed a beautiful diamond tennis bracelet. It a a huge surprise and I love it. Especially because of the meaning behind it.

We didn’t get each other gifts. I kind of feel like the honeymoon is the gift. But, we did have a love letter ceremony, so although we won’t read those letters for 5 years, we each wrote them the night before the wedding 🙂
