My niece turned 8 in march and I took her shopping we had a ball and she choose a butterfly necklace. I love seeing her wear it:)

You could always buy her a gift certificate to go see a movie in a theatre. Bonus if she gets to bring a friend.

My daughter is this age and people are always getting her things she doesn’t necessarily want/need – interests often change a lot at this age and you’re right that they can go quickly from teenage to little girl behaviour.

I think your idea about the bird refuge is great. We like experiences for presents, as well as a small something (my daughter really loved getting little kits for doing her nails at her last birthday).

There’s always books too ๐Ÿ™‚

What about a gift certificate to go with a friend (or you) to get her nails painted all fancy at a nail salon? She can get a cool decal or some fun rhinestones on her nails :).

For that age group, I always buy a giftcard to a bookstore in the area. Barnes and Noble, usually.
