Hi! I’m looking for some suggestions on finding a nice gift for the homeowners of the location where I’m getting married next month.
A little back story…
I got engaged in January and booked a beautiful outdoor venue in February. Well, in June I was told that they had to back out due to their neighbor serving them with a cease and desist order.
I panicked and scrambled to find a new venue when a colleague of mine stepped in and offered to let us have our wedding on her gorgeous property… it’s seriously gorgeous. But what’s even better is that she and her husband got married the same day as I’m getting married!
Anyway, I want to get them a gift to express our extreme gratitude for letting us use their home (and basically their front lawn!) for our wedding. We barely knew each other before all of this and I honestly don’t know what we would have done if they didn’t step in and offer to help.
I’ve thought of a few ideas, but nothing seems just right yet. I’d love any feedback you have to offer!
Thanks so much!!!

Are they going to be attending your wedding? If they are, have your photographer take a picture of you with the couple and have it framed. Maybe a gift certificate to their favorite restaurant along with it?

How about a gift certificate to a couples’ spa or maybe a night out (dinner and show or something)? I think it depends on the price range, but it def. sounds like you should do something nice for them.

A very sincerely written thank you note
If they’re attending your wedding, since its their anniversary, have your photographer get a really nice couple shot of them, buy a gorgeous frame and tuck that photo in there along with a generous gift certificate for dinner/night out. Or I’d arrange for them to have a getaway weekend so they can celebrate since they’re “hosting” your wedding on their anniversary.

Thanks! All great ideas– I didn’t even think of doing the picture idea!

What does their property look like? Would they appreciate a plant, planter, outdoor lights, or garden decoration of some sort, etc?
Which anniversary is it for them? Could you pick something along the anniversary gift themes? How about a piece of serving ware that will match their home?

The property is gorgeous. They have horses, cattle, etc. and tons of land. I’ve thought about doing a gift associated with the year of their anniversary, but I believe it’s copper… not too sure on that one. I do like the planter idea though- I think that’d be really pretty!!

Maybe have a professional cleaning service or a landscaping service? I know most people would enjoy either.

You have to write them a thank you, and hire landscapers and cleaners to come in after your event and leave it in better shape than it was given to you in.
I think a very generous gift certificate to a hotel/spa and great restaurant would be a wonderful “thank you”. In fact, i’d offer to put them up the weekend of your event

@Jen0310: Maybe you could get a copper-hued frame for the photo if you decide on that? And if you know any of your co-workers that are friends with her, perhaps you could ask them for suggestions? Who knows, maybe she’s always dreamed of a balloon ride over their property, or secretly wants to go skydiving? I think anything that shows that you’ve put some thought and effort into a gift would be greatly appreciated!

offering their property for your wedding is a very generous. i think the picture idea is great but i would also give them much more. gift card for a weekend away, favourite restaurant or spa.
how much would have you spent on renting a venue similar to this? i would keep the gift amount to a similar price amount.
