Looking for some guidance on what an appropriate gift for the priest who has been preparing us would be. He is not the one who is presideing over the ceremony, as it will be out of state in my hometown, but he has counseled us after our FOCCUS test and Pre-Cana retreat day. He has also prepared all of the necessary documents to send to my home diocese. Just wondering what an appropriate gift would be….any thoughts? Thanks!

I have never thought of a “gift” but more of a bigger donation to him.

I am wondering exactly this! My best guess is a thank you card with either cash of a gift card, for an amount less than what you are giving to the officiant. But, I am lost as to how much it should be. Should it be a donation to the church, or something directly to my parish priest? I feel that cash is somehow insulting, but I knwo that is the done thing for the officiant, so maybe that is fine for the preparer as well?
