I do not know the proper etiquette, but I will be giving all my shower hostesses a small gift all at the same time. I will then give some supplemental gifts to those who I know have put a lot of time and effort into the shower.

I sent mine (aunt, FMIL) large flower arrangements afterwards as a thank you, and sent my mom a smaller one since she helped out with stuff. I didn’t want to bring gifts for them to the shower because I was afraid I wouldn’t have time or it would get lost in the shuffle or look like I was trying to upstage or something. I tend to overthing things, but I think I was right on that one–I would send gifts later with a nice note.

A small gift (doesn’t need to be expensive) like flowers, a bottle of wine, a gift certificate for a manicure & pedicure, or something that the hostesses would like – along with a handwritten thank you note expressing your gratitude over the lovely shower – would be very nice and thoughtful. I would give it very soon after the shower so you can reflect details in the note about what actually happened (“It was so sweet of you to remember that macarons are my favorite cookie!”) instead of something generic, written before.

I don’t think giving a “better” gift to one person is a good idea, though. Keep them roughly equivalent. Again, you can express gratitude for extra work done in the personal note.

My bff’s mom sent my sister and I a thank you card and a Target gc for helping with the shower. We were surprised & thrilled.
